What is an Emotional Support Animal (ESA) Evaluation?

Our ESA evaluations are designed to assess whether an emotional support animal is a clinically appropriate part of your treatment plan.

This evaluation is a professional mental health assessment conducted by a trained professional to determine if you qualify for an emotional support animal, under applicable housing laws.

ESAs are not considered service animals, but they are recognized as a reasonable accommodation for individuals with qualifying mental health conditions.

  • A thoughtful and ethical review of your mental health history, ensuring we know how impactful your experiences have been, as well as current symptoms and how they’re currently affecting your daily functioning

  • A deeper dive into whether an ESA could be beneficial for you, including specific ways an animal may provide strength and support

  • Administration of a letter, if clinically appropriate, determined by specific DSM criteria

How Do I know If I’m eligible for an ESA letter?

An assessment by our therapists will determine whether you’re eligible for an ESA letter. Many individuals may benefit from an ESA, including those diagnosed with anxiety, panic disorders, depression, PTSD, phobias, and emotional-distress.

Is an ESA Letter Approval Guaranteed?

ESA letters are only issued when clinically appropriate, therefore they are not guaranteed. They are intended for housing-related accommodations, and therefore, your housing entity unfortunately may have the final say. We cannot guarantee approvals, only that we will be happy to provide follow-up documentation to your association, should it be appropriate and necessary, to help with your case as best as we can.

Pricing for an ESA Letter

Quality mental health care should be a right, not a privilege.

  • The price of a 45 minute ESA evaluation appointment is $150

  • This includes the price of the letter and any forms or calls your building or organization may require us to complete on your behalf

  • Should follow-up appointments be necessary, these are priced at $90 each
